After surfing and coaching around the world, Mike moved to the UK in 2001 and founded the Escape Surf School in Newquay, where he is owner and Head Coach. Mike is also a former Head Coach for the British Junior Surf Team; his other professional achievements include:

• BSA level 4 Coach / ISA level 2 Coach
• 2015 British Masters Surf Champion
• 2016 English Masters Surf Champion
• Former South African Senior Champion
